Scope and Contents

In the 2017-2018 Session, the Republicans were in majority and the Democrats were in the minority. The Chairs of the Committee were Tim Hennessey (majority) and Steve Samuelson (minority). The Chairs of the Subcommittee on Care and Services were Lynda Culver (majority) and Pamela DeLissio (minority). The Chair of the Subcommittee on Programs and Benefits is Will Tallman (majority) and Mary Jo Daley (minority). The Secretaries were Jonathan Fritz (majority) and Steve McCarter (minority).

The 2017-2018 Aging and Older Adult Services Committee focused on the following issues: proposed combination of Health and Human Services and Aging Departments, Meals on Wheels, senior housing programs, and amending the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
