Scope and Contents

This collection reflects the 19 year career of Representative L. Chris Ross. During that time, Ross fought for environmental protection laws, consumer credit code reform and consumer payday loan debt decreases all of which are shown through his legislative works. He served on numerous committees such as: Urban Affairs, Commerce, Environmental Resources and Energy, Health and Human Services, Local Government, and Liquor Control. He served as the Chairman on the following committees: Liquor Control during the 2015-2016 session and Urban Affairs during the 2011-2012 session. He was the Subcommittee Chairman on Licensing for the Liquor Control Committee and Subcommittee Chairman on Financial Services and Banking for the Commerce Committee. This collection contains legislative works pertaining to the committees Ross served. The collection also contains district newsletters, press releases on Ross's legislation, and photographs from House of Representative and district events. There are numerous newspaper articles reflecting Ross' enthusiasm for his district and the events he visited such as the Unionville Fair. There are DVD's with Ross' farewell message and digital photographs from the House Republicans at the conclusion of this collection.

This collection was kept in original order the way Representative Ross donated the collection. The legislative section is not in chronological order, but instead kept in files the way Ross kept the different house bills and the research behind those bills.

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
