Scope and Contents
The committee is composed of 29 members, 16 from the majority and 13from the minority. Committee members include Rep. Phyllis Mundy (D), Majority Chair, Rep. Steve Samuelson (D), Subcommittee Majority Chair on Care and Services, Rep. William F. Keller (D), Subcommittee Majority Chair on Programs and Benefits, Rep. John T. Galloway (D), Secretary, Rep. Tim Hennessey (R), Minority Chair, Rep. Katharine M. Watson (R), Subcommittee Minority Chair on Care and Services, Rep. Martin T. Causer (R), Subcommittee Minority Chair on Programs and Benefits. The Aging and Older Adult Services Committee focused on the following issues: personal care homes, exploitation of older adults, nursing homes, senior care services, baby boomers, PACE/PACENET, assisted living programs.
During the session, the Committee held public hearings on elder care reform, property tax and rent rebates, baby boomers, direct care workers’ issues, carbon monoxide detectors, assisted living programs, and home share programs.

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
